I am bi-cultural as I was born in France some 69 years ago and became a (legal) immigrant in my twenties. I have been retired for the past 9 years and have the time and freedom to dwell into just about anything striking my fancy. Intellectual activity occupies a large place in my life; I spend a great deal of time reading about a variety of topics and issues and pondering about many of the serious problems we must confront as a society as well as our legacy to the next generation.

I am what you might call a free thinker and an atheist who, at this stage of my life has come to think of religion in general as a plague to the human family, the world over.

While not particularly interested in sports, I have found that sailing is a very stimulating and multi-facetted activity that Iâ??ve come to greatly enjoy.

ahhh...that felt good to list all the things i really hate. but, back to business...even though i am more than willing to meet a guy, i've dated guys and i've been consistently disappointed - both mentally, emotionally and physically. I'm somewhat shy, but I've been breaking away from that and I can be a really fun person to be around. On the weekends I love to go downtown to the clubs and just relax and meet new people. Recently got my motorcycle shipped out here, so I finally have transportation!

I'm a pretty athletic guy and try to take good care of myself for the most part. I enjoy running and most other athletic activities. I spend some of my freetime watching movies or playing a few video games.

I'm incredibly blessed in every sense of the word, and I really strive to take nothing for granted. I have an amazing family, great friends, and a lot to look forward to in life. I cherish every experience I've had, and I can't wait to see what the future brings.

I was born in Germany, but I was raised mostly in Kansas. No quite as exciting, although I'm making up for it by living in Korea at the moment. You might be wondering why my profile says that I'm in Monterey, and that can be answered in several ways:
1. I lived in Monterey from May 2007-October 2008.
2. I will be returning to Monterey in May 2010 until May 2011.
3. My heart will always be beside the ocean. Even the cold, rocky, crazy sea lion ocean that is Monterey Bay.

I have one older brother, and my parents are still married. They just celebrated their 35th anniversary, and my grandparents their 67th. Pretty big footsteps to follow, but I hope to find someone who still brings out the best in me after decades together.

I love hiking, backpacking, traveling, and pretty much anything that lets me enjoy fresh air. I could be perfectly happy driving to Big Sur every weekend, pulling off at some random stop on the highway and exploring. I have my days when I stay inside and veg out for a bit, but I figure it just makes me appreciate the great outdoors that much more.

I love volunteering, and the military has been a great way to network and get involved with lots of different opportunities. I've done a lot of time at local Korean orphanages, and I'm part of a program in which a few of us go to a local elementary school and tutor some students in English once a week. I like helping people, and it's important to me that my partner feels the same way.

I'm a hard worker, and I can be very internally competitive. By that, I mean that I love pushing myself and finding new challenges to overcome. I also love being told that I can't do something, because it makes me that much more eager to prove someone wrong.

I moved to Monterey about a year ago for school. Missing the rain in the pacific NW, but its growing on me :) Raised on an island in Washington near the border, I've since lived in Portland, OR and Saint Petersburg, Russia. I love to read, watch movies, hang out with friends. I'm a coffee addict.

In the last five years, I've lost 200 lbs. I'm not done, but I love my body and refuse to hate myself because I might not fit into what some people have categorized as "beautiful".

I was a first generation college student. I take my education very seriously and I am so excited that I am almost done. But I miss the quiet of the country sometimes.

I'm looking for someone to hang out with. I believe that relationships are organic. I've had long term casual relationships, and short term serious relationships. Things will become what they are meant to become. I'm not necessarily looking for my next relationship to lead to marriage. Just looking for someone to unwind with, hang out with. I like my independence, and I expect the person I'm in a relationship to like their independence as well. Right now, my schedule is crazy, and sometimes I need my alone time, which isn't a reflection on the people around me.

wow where do I start. I've been told I have a good sense of humor, and like all things funny. I like to hang out with friends, like my dog lady (whos my best friend) and taking her jogging and hiking whenever i get a chance. I'm big on hobbies. Mainly I skateboard, usually everyday if possible. I ride dirtbikes out in Hollister Hills and at clear creek. I've been building a jeep for over a year now and its almost done....so excited. as much as I like to be outdoors doing stuff and keeping myself active I also enjoy playing chess.
